PHY-151 Introduction to Physics

A lecture-demonstration course covering the mechanics of solids, liquids, gases, heat, and sound. Credit is not given to students who already have credit for PHY-201, PHY-211, or PHY-231. Prereq: Two years of high school algebra or MA-108R.        3 credits

PHY-152 Introduction to Physics

A lecture - demonstration course covering electricity, magnetism, optics, and atomic and nuclear physics. Credit is not given to students who already have credit for PHY-203, PHY-213, or PHY-232. Prereq: Two years of high school algebra or MA-108R.          3 credits

PH-161 Introductory Physics Laboratory I

Experiments in heat, sound and the mechanics of solids, liquids, and gases are performed in this introductory general laboratory course. Laboratory: 2 hours. Prereq. or concurrent: PHY-151.         1 credit

PH-162 Introductiory Physics Laboratory II

Experiments in electricity, magnetism, and light are performed in this introductory general laboratory course. Laboratory: 2 hours. Prereq. or concurrent: PHY-152.       1 credit

PHY-231 General University Physics

An advanced general course covering the mechanics of solids, liquids and gases; heat; and sound. Lecture: 3 hours; Recitation: 1 hour. Prereq. or concurrent: MA-114. 4 credits

PHY-232 General University Physics

An advanced general course covering electricity, magnetism, and optics. Lecture: 3 hours; Recitation: 1 hour. This course is prerequisite to a significant number of courses in this and related areas of study. Prereq: PHY-231; Concurrent: MA-213.       4 credits

ME-220 Engineering Thermodynamics I

Fundamental principles of thermodynamics. Prereq: PHY-231. Prereq. or concurrent: MA-214.       3 credits

HP-101 Introduction to Health Physics I

An introduction to the basic principles of Health Physics. Introductory atomic and nuclear physics, radioactivity, ionizing radiation and its biological effects are covered. Lecture: 3 hours. Prereq: MA-109 or equivalent concurrent.       3 credits

HP-102 Introduction to Health Physics II

Introduction to internal and external dosimetry, shielding, radiation detection, and enviromental monitoring. Lecture: 3 hours. Prereq: HP-101.       3 credits
